About us
Ma Reine et moi was founded by Martine Veranneman
My godmother was born on January 6, 1916, in Ans, a municipality in the province of Liège. She moved to Roeselare with her family in 1924. She learned to speak Flemish by reading the newspaper. She got married and had two daughters and four grandchildren. I myself am one of those grandchildren, born in 1969.
I was raised with her creativity and perseverance.
From the age of 16, all my studies were focused on fashion. After textile design, I went to Ghent for a Ready-to-Wear training, then to Brussels to graduate as a Stylist-Modelist. After a few jobs in footwear and children's clothing, I started my own girls' clothing line in 2007: Blathine. That was a fascinating, intense period. But eventually, it became a business, and I missed the joy of craftsmanship, the real handwork, and the direct contact with the customer, who wears my work.
In 2018, I changed course. I now only work on a small scale, by order. I create custom-made (wedding) clothing and take into account the individuality of the client.
The approach is also unique: I'm not afraid to incorporate worn clothing with emotional value into a contemporary, new design. It is particularly pleasant to grow with the customer's expectations towards the moment when the result can be seen by the world, which is usually a very special occasion.
In January 2021, my shop Ma Reine et moi opened in Heverlee. In addition to custom work, I now also offer a beautiful range of sustainable fashion and accessories.
Fashion with a story.
